'LET REDUCE STREETISM IN VOLTA REGION'- BEST NACEM CEO TO SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT

The Chief Execuive Officer (CEO) of Best Nacem, Stephen Nana Afful has called on the Volta Region Social Welfare Department to put in measures to reduce the high rate of children loitering on the various streets in the region.

According to him, there is the need for the department to develop a  strategy to curb this menace especially on the streets of Kpando and Ho as the country is fighting novel, Coronavirus pandemic.

Stephen Afful who is well noted for his campaign against streetism is currently locked up in the Volta  region as a result of the president directives.

Currently, the Volta region has recorded six cases that, effective contact tracing has began and it's unsafe for street children.

Therefore he said, it will be advisable to find ways to safeguard these  children who are vulnerable from contracting the virus.

 He also appluaded the President for his lock down directives in Accra and other highly infected cities and regions.

He feels if not for economic and other vital reasons Volta region should be locked down adding "we should not wait for the case to rise before we enforce partial lockdown".
