Story by Patrick Appenteng appah

Former president of the Republic of Ghana and presidential candidate for the opposition party, John Dramani Mahama has bemoaned that Ghana's press freedom has been jeopardized since most of the radio stations have been locked up.

According to him, Ghana used to be in the first position when we talk of countries with press freedom but now we have fallen to our nearby countries.

He continued by saying that most of our journalists have been killed for conducting investigations, citing the investigative Journalist who was assassinated by an unknown persons for example. He is urging the government to act fast on this issue especially the case of most journalists being beaten and humiliated by government officials because of information.

He challenged the government to open the locked up radio stations and release the licences that have been seized from some of them.
