CODA SPENDS TIME WITH THE FISHERS.

Residents from the fishing communities in the Greater Accra Region spent yesterday, October 18th 2020 together with the representatives  from Coastal Development Authority and relevant stake holders in the fishing industry. 


The event took place at the forecourt of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Office in Accra and focused on people in the fishing business, that is fishermen and fishmongers . 



The event was graced by the Director General of Bulk Oil Storage and Transport, Mr Edwin Provencal, the Accra Mayor, Hon. Nii Adjei Sowah and the Chief Executive Officer of Coastal Development Authority ( CODA) , Mr. Jerry Ahmed ESQ.


During the event, fishermen and fishmongers were engaged on issues pertaining the fishing industry. They were informed that the president Ghana is giving out outboard motor at subsidized cost and that a person can obtain one by applying through their local committees.


Mr. Edwin Provencal, the Director General for Bulk Oil Storage and Transport ( BOST ) promised timely and regular supply of premix fuel to every fisherman after acquiring an outboard motor. 


The fisher folks were also informed that, the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo would give out loans for expansion of fishing business with very low interest rates.


Each fish monger was given a head pan while everyone present was given an opportunity to either register or renew his of her National Health Insurance Scheme free of charge. Also, the was free health screening for fishermen and fishmongers who wanted to check on their health. 


The Accra Mayor, Hon. Nii Adjei Sowah urged everyone present to vote massively for the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and New Patriotic Party during the upcoming general elections on December 7.
