Uporoar In Gushegu NPP Over Disqualified Aspirant ….. Members Call For Resolution Of Impasse

Story by Carlos Afanou

Eighteen (18)out of the Twenty Five (25) Electoral Area Coordinators of the Gushegu constituency of the New Patriotic Party in the Northern Region are calling on the constituency executives of the party to immediately reverse the previous decision which led to the disqualification of Mahama Osman, an aspirant to pave the way for a smooth parliamentary primary election in the constituency.
According to them, the impending parliamentary primary will devoid of tension and disunity which will enable the constituency to elect a winnable candidate for the party.
This they said failure to which, will lead to a dreadful electoral misfortune to both the the imposed parliamentary candidate and by extension the Presidential candidate as well.
In a petition dated April 13,2020, signed by the Eighteen (18) Electoral Area Coordinators and copied to the National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay, President Akufo-Addo, NPP General Secretary, NPP National Disciplinary Committee Chairman, Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP as well as the Gushegu constituency Chairman of the NPP noted if the matter is not resolved immediately, it will derail the party’s chances of retaining the Gushegu parliamentary seat for the party.
“It is an understatement to contend that there is a heavy cloud of electoral uncertainty in our constitueney as far as the organization of NPP party activities are concerned”. They asserted.
“Our dedicated party supporters are haranguing with painful disenchantments relative to the unpopular disqualification”. They added.
The petitioners said it is unfair to forcefully attempt to impose a parliamentary candidate on the constituency, no matter how highly placed the aspirant may be.
According to them, such a forceful imposition against all odds and advice can only work to effect a very unpleasantly dire and electoral mistortune against the Presidential candidate.
The statement concluded by appealing to the National Executives to immediately reverse the previous decision and reinstate Mahama Osman to avoid open verbal abuses from our core supporters and to retain the seat for the NPP.
