Intestinal parasites are parasites that infest the gastro  - intestinal tract of humans. These parasites preferred living on the intestinal wall of humans despite its capability of living anywhere in the body.

It is estimated that more than 1.5 billion people (approximately 25% of the world's population) leave with these parasites such as worms.

WORMBAT - 400 ( Africa's most popular dewormer) has been engaging activities to raise awareness of such infections and to show their commitment in making Ghana Web free.

As a result of this the WORMBAT - 400 team has been undertaken several community outreaches across the Nation. One of such visits was on Saturday 22nd August, 2020 at the Mempeasem  Community Hall in East Legon.

During the outreach, children and parents  where to get in on the effects of worms. We were told that parasitic infections is associated with eating raw, unwashed fruits and vegetables, drinking contaminated water as well as having poor personal hygiene practices

They were also made  aware of its prevalence in Ghana since 25% of people do not have access to adequate sanitation facilities.

A philanthropist and public figure, Mr John Dumelo, was present to declare support towards the outreach and expressed the importance of deworming in in a country like Ghana where sanitation and hygiene is a major challenge.

The WORMBAT - 400 teamthen administered parents and children with a single dose of WORMBAT - 400 tablets to help eradicate the prevalence of these parasitic intestinal worms.

The WORMBAT - 400  tablet is a drug which contains albendazole 400 mg and it's recommended by the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) as an effective preventive chemotherapy for public health intervention. It's a sneezing Ghana proudly under the licence of LUEX, a British pharmaceutical company which produces quality and trusted medicines for over 30 years.

According to the senior pharmacist of the WORMBAT team, Mr Solomon Odamtten, "Regular deworming prevents children from intestinal parasitic worms which could lead to anaemia and nutrition impaired mental health physical cognitive development and reduced school participation. This is why we must encourage deworming with WORMBAT - 400 every three months to keep your family and friends safe."

In an interview with the chief digital officer who gave his name as Nana Yaw, there was indication that more of such outreach would be conducted to eradicate parasitic worms would be conducted across the country.
