The International Day of Midwife Award ceremony was held October 8, 2020 at the ministry of health auditorium where Twenty-one best Midwives from all the sixteen Regions in Ghana has been awarded with a laptop, table top fridge and a crystal glass plague with support from UNFPA and CRS.

Amazigly, among the Twenty-one Midwives, there are only two male Midwives namely: Abdul karim Nuhu who works at Camp 15 chps compound in Bia East District of the Western North Region and Alhassan Haruna who also works at Mamprugu H/C of the Northern Region.

The sector Minister noted, the ministry of health will continue to provide the requisite resources and also continue to create the enabling environment for all Midwives to work safely and also progress in their career development.

Dr. Barnabas Kwame Yeboah, the head of Nursing and Midwifery, MOH, noted that midwifery is not for only women and therefore encouraged male to pursue it and also urge all Midwives to accept posting to remote areas in Ghana.
