The Launch Of The 2nd Edition Of The Brain Battle Quiz Was Held Today 10th March 2021 At Holy Spirit  Cathedral  Pavilion ,Accra. 

Madam Josephine Asooh shared with  Ghana News Desk during her presentation on the idea of engaging  Catholic basic school across the country in a stem quiz competition was mooted by the Cocktail Media,a Catholic youth media organization in 2019.The General Manager Of Catholic  schools, Ghana - Mrs. Doris Eshun facilitated a presentation of the concept  to Region Managers of Catholic  Education units and subsequently  to the Episcopal Bishop  of Education Archbishop Bonaventure kwofie. 

The Archbishop pledged  his full support and subsequently  headlined the official launch of the Maiden  Edition Of Brain Battle Quiz on 19th of July, 2019.

In September 2019,the regional contests were organized and the Grand  Finale took place in March, 2020.

In the maiden edition last year, we witnessed an exciting  practicals  based contest. The program  yielded several innovative  science  projects  in addition to the battle of ideas in the practical based quiz category. 

For instance, the winner of the science project category used an innovative technique to produce  electricity which could charge mobile phone from urine in response to the environmental crises posed by several unauthorized  urinals surrounding it's school  premise in the  western region.

This and many other intriguing  projects discovered  through this programme  encouraged us to sustain it to drive the national agenda of producing  problem  solving  Scientists.

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 restricts  were imposed  on the country a few hours after National ground finale was held and hence curtailed all further related activities.

"After studying  the current national  Covid-19 situation, the national planning  committee, Chaired by Rev. For. Benjamin Ohene, headmaster of at. Martins senior high school has adopted  plans to developed and produced another edition of the Brain Battle National  Stem  championship which are modalities and road map that will be announced  at this 2021 launch edition  gathering",she said. 

This year's  edition  will feature 144 schools comprising  9 schools from each of the sixteen (16) Regions. 

There are prizes made available for the science project ,which are: Ten thousand cedes (10,000.00) for the 1st prize worth of science equipment a branded trophy and five hundred  cedis (500.00) savings account, certificates and souvenir  for the Contestants of winning school. 

There are two mandatory categories which are the national junior scientist project category and the practical Based Quiz contest.
