Director General of Ghana Standards Authority Prof. Alex Dodoo has charged laboratory scientists in Africa not to jump proven standards and laid down processes in the discharge of their lab duties.

According to Prof. Dodoo, the processes for acquiring accreditation in the field of lab practices are tedeous due to the large volume of documentation needed but demands deliberate efforts to guarantee quality.

Speaking at the 7th CelebrateLAB West Africa Conference in Accra on Wednesday 21 April, 2021, the renowned health expert Prof. Dodoo said "Laboratory practices, testing and everything are so critical to healthcare delivery. The process of obtaining accreditation are cumbersome, laborious, because it involves a lot of documentation, if your processes are not written, if your staff details are not there, if you don't have a written procedure on how you train your staff, if don't keep the temperature of your fridge everyday, you can never guarantee quality ...so l'm saying that guaranteeing quality is tedeous but required a deliberate process".
Ghana Standards Authority Boss Prof. Alex Dodoo has revealed his outfit in its current state will be willing to help upcoming lab scientists to get accreditation"

"We'll not reduce the standards but help them to get the required standard and accreditation".

The theme for 7th CelebrateLAB West Africa Conference is on "Combating emerging and re-emerging infections through standisation and Laboratory practices in West Africa".

The assembled crack team of Lab scientists in West Africa are expected to brainstorm in the two-day annual meeting of laboratory professionals and come up a communique to influence health policies whilst serving as a shining example to the West Africa sub region and world.
