WHILE GLOBAL ATTENTION IS FOCUSED ON COVID-19, REMEMBER HEART DISEASE KILLS- CARDIOLOGIST DR. AYETEY

Cardiologist and Senior Lecturer at University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences and Cape Teaching Hospital Dr. Harold Ayetey has urged the public to take steps to control cardiovascular risks factors despite global attention being focused on covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Cardiologist Dr. Ayetey heart disease patients must not lose sight of  behavioural patterns that trigger cardiovascular conditions in the era of covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking at the 7th CelebraeLAB annual meeting and inaugural Conference for laboratory professionals in West Africa 2021 in Accra, Dr Ayetey said the battle against Covid-19 must not be fought at the expense of heart related disease and attacks.

"Covid-19 and attacks present similar symptoms and we must fight both together. If you have diabetes,  hypertension, make sure you check your blood pressure regularly, sugar levels. It's possible to have both Covid-19 and heart disease at the same time".
