A/R : GAMLS serves notice of nationwide strike, directs members to clad in red bands

Ashanti Regional Branch of Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists has served notice of nationwide strike as it has already directed members to immediately remain clad in red bands and armband at laboratories. 

This follows sit-down strike by lab professionals at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital over refusal of government, Health Ministry and management to withdraw two Clinical Haematologists at the facility. 

A statement signed and issued by Ashanti Regional Branch of GAMLS on Monday 24 May 2021 stated that "Whiles we await further directives from national on an inevitable nationwide strike, we direct all our members in Ghana Health Service, Christian Health Association of Ghana and University Hospitals to display red bands in the Laboratory and put on red armband or dress, with immediate effect". 

"The Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS) demand the immediate removal of the two Physicians (Clinical Haematologists) from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Laboratory staff list, as well as the Haematology Unit".


The statement further said "We expect a nationwide strike to commence within the week and thus, encourage all managers to ensure total compliance of the directives that would come from our national leaders. No retreat, no surrender; we are together!!!".
