GES TAKESOVER ACHIMOTA SCH

By Jerry Akornor

Ghana Education Service has taken over Achimota School yesterday.

Achimota School has been in the news in recent times for refusing to admit two students Oheneba Nkrabea and Tyrone Murgh over their refusal to remove dreadlocks.

The two has since dragged Achimota School to court alleging absolute breach of their fundamental human rights contrary to Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and are to reappear in court on May 14, 2021.

The latest twist to the matter led by GES has been a surprised to some parents who thronged to the school to ascertain the reason behind the takeover during which some claimed they have invested in the school.

The information about the latest GES decision is very scanty but, ghananewsdesk.com will update readers on this new development in Achimota School.

Meanwhile, Ranking Member on Education Committee of Parliament Peter Notsu Kotoe has urged GES to immediately clarify the matter to clear every doubt in the minds of the public and parents.

Speaking to Class FM on Saturday 1 May, 2012 monitored by ghananewsdesk.com, the Educationist Kotoe expressed shock at the development.

“ I’m surprised at this new development by GES, I went there when I jumped at the news that GES has taken over. But, I think they should clarify the matter”.
