Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has expressed confidence that the power transmission upgrade programme currently ongoing is on track.

Ghana's energy sector is currently upgrading infrastructure to ensure systems are fixed, a situation government attributed to ongoing power outages in Greater Accra, Kasoa and other parts of the country.
According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, ongoing upgrading of power transmission projects at Kumasi, Kintampo, Kasoa and Pokuase are working in line with schedule.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh said "erratic power supply in Kumasi is not dumsor but rather challenges with voltage".

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is also insisting that the current power outages in parts of the country is not due to financial problems.
