We deferred 3 PPAs to save $1.42 billion- Energy Minister

By Jerry Akornor

Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is insisting that Akufo-Addo-led Administration saved Ghana a whooping $1.42 billion dollars upon deferring PPAs signed by the previous government.

According to him, his outfit is working to upgrade infrastructure within the energy sector to ensure that systems are fixed to carry loads being transmitted.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh  said "That's the government working in the interest of the people and Ghanaian. Over forty (40) PPAs that have been signed, we are negotiating to reduce costs".

Ghana's total energy demand stands at 3200 megawatts.

He noted that "the lowest electricity cost can be found in this Akufo-Addo government".
