UN WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT GHANA GOVERNMENT COVID - 19 RESPONSE PLAN - Mr. Charles Abani.

United Nations Resident Coordinator  Mr. Charles Abani, has assured Ghanaians of their support towards Covid -19 response plan,in meeting the needs of vulnerabilities.


According to Mr.Charles Abani during his presentation at World  Bank pandemic emergency financing facility project ,on 26th May 2021.At Labadi Beach Hotel,Accra Ghana.


Mr. Charles Abani reestablished  in his presentation that UN focus is to set an assets for basic services despite the transformation impact that Covid 19 has brought to us,and emergency pandemic financing facilities is within the World Bank which is dedicated to UN agency to assist during pandemic for critical issues though, "3.3 million us Dollar was given last year which  we are ready to do more with the collective agencies." 


Speaking at the World Bank pandemic emergency financing facility project closeout meeting on 26th May 2021, held at Labadi Beach Hotel, was a renowned Minister for Finance, ken Ofori Atta.Said,"to build back better and greener, we must reorient our approach and share a moral sense  of duty to act whatever and whenever the pandemic  brings about deficient social outcomes. Without this, we could be staring down the possibility of a "lost decade" characterized by sub-optimal socio-economic outcomes  across  Africa and the rest of the world. 


Ghana Minister of finance,Hon.Ken Ofori Atta said, "the attempt to protect lives and livelihoods in the wake of Covid -19 resulted in growth being  revised  downwards  from 6.8% to 0.4%.Specially,the combined  fiscal impact of the shortfall in revenues and additional  expenditures to contain the pandemic was estimated at GHS 25.3 billion  (6.6% of GDP). Which the joint of COVID-19 humanitarian response under the World Bank Pandemic Emergency Financing (PEF) facility was timely and welcome intervention. 


In the Minister of finance final statement,said,"I  would like to offer my sincere gratitude to UN country team for the support provided under the Pandemic Emergency Financing (PDF), because without sufficient support to the continent, by 2050,when Africa  will be home to a quarter of the world's population, and about $29 trillion of GDP (UNFPA 2020),a disaster of Apocalyptic scale may befall us."
