Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP) is calling on the Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture and stakeholders to put pressure on the President of the Republic, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa to appoint the Executive Secretary for the Creative Arts Agency (CAA). It's been over 6 months now since the bill was passed (17- 12- 2020) and up until now the industry has not witnessed any major take off or improvement within that space. The Act, which is the legislative framework to guide the creative industry is expected to accelerate the growth of the sector. The Act will oversee the establishment of the Creative Arts fund which will enable government to organize the creative arts industry and also create an enabling environment through direct and indirect support for practitioners. FOCAP knowing very well that the industry needs proper structural support is wondering why the delay by President in appointing an executive secretary 6 months into his second administration as the Act establishes. Focap is hoping the Minister will expedite action in making the appointment early so we hit the ground running. FOCAP is also appealing to government to also expedite action on proper establishment of the National Film Authority and fulfil the demands of the Act. FOCAP wishes to re-iterate that the Creative Agency is the apex decision making body for the industry since all domains are represented on the board and any further delay will slow down the development of the sector.
