Funeral of late Paramount Chief of La slated for March 14

The week-long ceremony will be held at the Forecourt of the La-Royal palace. It will end on Sunday, March 20, 2022. The late Nii Dr Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III, was enstooled in April 1988 until his demise on February 4, 2019, at the age of 89.
He was on the stool for 32 years, making him one of the longest serving Paramount Chiefs of the La state. At a press briefing on Thursday, Major General Samuel Nii Anum Odotei (Rtd.), Acting La State Dzasetse, said on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday, there would be private activities carried out by the leadership of the La Traditional Council, which would be restricted to the public. He said on Wednesday, there would be a file past by people of the La community and other members of the public. Major General Anum said on Thursday, political and traditional leaders would file past. On Friday, a non- denominational burial service would be held from 1000 hours and later the same day, a private burial would follow. He said a non- denominational thanksgiving service would be held on Sunday from 1000 hours. Major General Anum said as an honour to the late La Overlord, there would be a ban on funerals and other social activities and general noisemaking from Monday, March 7 He said there would also be several traditional events in honour of the late Nii La. Major General Anum assured the public of safety, adding that personnel from the Municipal Security Council made of the Police, Military and other security agencies would be deployed to ensure safety and manage any security threat at the event. He also stressed that all COVID 19 safety protocols would be observed.
