IIMPROVING HUMAN RIGHTS STANDARDS BUSINESSES; UNDP LAUNCHES B + HR PROJECT

The United Nations Development Programme has launched the Business + Human Rights project to improve human rights standards in businesses. The Project funded by the Government of Japan seeks to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and equipping governments and companies to understand and act upon their duties and responsibilities to prevent abuses such as forced labour, land grabbing and discrimination. Speaking to the media at the event, Mr Sukhrob Khoshmukhamedov, the Deputy Resident Representative for UNDP Ghana said the project will make Ghanaian businesses more responsible to human rights Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice of Ghana, Hon Diana Asonaba Dapaah said there must be massive education for the ordinary Ghanaian to know their basic human rights at their work places.
